THE RECLAMATION OF THE ISLAND OF LAZZARETTO NUOVO: VENICE AND ITS LAGOON – VENICE ARCHEOCLUB

Tuesday 22 January 2013 5.00 p.m. – Free admission - History of Venice

This is the remarkable tale of the rebirth of Lazzaretto Nuovo, a site of unique international importance that has been salvaged for the community by the Ekos Club voluntary association. It is now a lagoon museum and a workshop for teaching people about Archaeology, History and Nature. It sets a splendid example and gives an alternative vision of the city of Venice and its lagoon, while encouraging pragmatic reflection on the management of the cultural and environmental heritage of Italy.
An encounter with Gerolamo Fazzini, the director of the island, chairman of the Venice Archeoclub and an honorary inspector of the Veneto Archaeological Heritage Office.

Coordinator: Diego Ramella, Bistrot de Venise
