Saturday 20 December 2014 PHOTOGRAPHY 5.00 pm – admission free

A fixture on the amateur photography scene for more than twenty years, native Venetian Mirella La Rosa has carved out her own identity, one that is well known within her field and which has earned her fair share of accolades.
In addition to the mastery of optical equipment she clearly possesses, she processes her photographs herself using modern digital systems, offering her the framework through which to express the emotion and intimacy that typifies her work.
She has been involved in accredited workshops with photographers of the calibre of Franco Fontana and Roberto Salbitani. She participated in the recent collective exhibitions organised by the La Gondola photography club, in the exhibition space at the Cassa di Risparmio di Venezia in Campo San Luca, and at the Casa dei Tre Oci on Giudecca. The Civic Gallery of Modena acquired a number of her images for its photography section.
She had a solo show at the Querini Stampalia Foundation, here in Venice, in 2012, and another at the Italian Cultural Institute in Marseilles earlier this year.
Of the elements that characterise her work to any great degree, it is the presence of water that recurs most frequently, perceived and depicted with a unique and intense power. Restless water, in constant movement, surrounding and engulfing people and objects, which seem to flutter, suspended and trapped in the liquid surrealism of her works. And water provides the inspiration for the interesting selection of pieces that the artist will present at the event.
