From trees and animals to the miniature world of insects. Nature, “wild and unbridled”, the territory in which we move, seeking to be freed from pure representation and description, to allow instinct and emotion, and thus imagination, to run free. In her most recent works, beginning with a minute drawing, from life, of various types of insect, the artist has effected the reworking and transformation of the subject, using pastel, graphite and other media. Visual clues plunge her back into “her” nature, both internal and external, to face a fantastic voyage into the unknown. Marina Zaffalon, is a Venetian islander born and bred, hailing from Sant’Erasmo. She worked in stonework restoration for ten years. She is also known as a theatrical actor, and has performed in a number of pieces staged by Arnaldo Momo’s Teatro 7. Her artistic work also uses recycled materials, creating objects and jewellery from plastic bottles and other materials. She currently attends the Venice Academy of Fine Art. She lives and works in Venice.
