SOLO EXHIBITION BY FRANCESCO STEFANINI
All that remains of the surrounding landscape is a cloud of dust, uneasy shadows, feeble traces, vapours, nothing but colour, and then a flicker of fire, a flash, lights, the silence and sounds of a mysterious night. A journey into abstraction in search of the invisible in the visible, of memory, of a luminous source that rewrites places and paths, and becomes pure imagination, emotion. An exploration of the impalpable, secret life of nature that emerges from a painstaking working of the canvas or the board, from the application of paint in glazes and drips that has as its goal the very essence of things. Francesco Stefanini was born in Pietrasanta di Lucca. He was educated at the Magistero d’Arte in Florence. He would leave the city in 1972 to move to Treviso to become a teacher at the Art College. He has exhibited in Italy and abroad since 1975, in public and private galleries and exhibition spaces. In 1995, he was invited to contribute to the “Memorie e Attese” (Memory and Waiting) review as part of the 46th Art Biennale, and in 2012 he was included in the “Oltre il Giardino – Un giardino globale” (Beyond the Garden – a Global Garden) as part of the 12th Architecture Biennale. He lives and works in Volpago del Montello, near Treviso.
