“SENTINELLE DI PIETRA” (“SENTINELS OF STONE”) AND “L’OCCUPAZIONE DIMENTICATA” (“THE FORGOTTEN OCCUPATION”)

Tuesday 17 January 2017 HISTORY 5.00 pm – free admission

Paolo Ruffilli, Lisa Bregantin and Denis Vidale mark the centenary of the First World War with the presentation of: Sentinelle di Pietra – I grandi sacrari del primo conflitto mondiale (“Sentinels of stone – the great memorials of the First World War”) (Biblioteca dei Leoni), an illustrated journey through the First World War sites deputised into preserving the memory of the fallen; and L’Occupazione Dimenticata, (“The forgotten occupation”) (Biblioteca dei Leoni), which tells the story of the Italian occupation of Greece from 1941 to ’43, a largely unknown page in the history of the Second World War of which only the outbreak, the conflict with Greece and its conclusion, and the massacres at Cephalonia and Corfu have reached wider attention. The rest lies in shadow.

Presented by Paolo Ruffilli, Lisa Bregantin and Denis Vidale.
