“SAINT MARK, FROM ALEXANDRIA TO VENICE” Renato D’Antiga (Casa dei Libri, Padua, 2014)
The text begins with a biographical reconstruction of the figure of the evangelist and the cult that grew up around him in Egypt. It goes on to describe the political motives that led the Doge, Giustiniano Particiaco, to commission two Venetian merchants to spirit the saint’s remains away in 828. The work ends by looking at the origins of the cult of Saint Mark in Venice.
Presentation, with the author, organised by Lucia Guidorizzi.
