NEW ITALIAN POETRY – MATTEO BIANCHI
Matteo Bianchi and his “Fischi di Merlo” – Published by Edizioni del Leone
Voices in the silence, faces without features, the fragrances held within “the smoke that smells of embers”… Matteo Bianchi takes us to the solitary, foggy and disorienting city of Ferrara and its dreamlike surroundings on an untiring, intense search for “a reason” to light up our lives. Without any structural intent, his “jagged” words explicitly and empathetically emulate Montale, with his “don’t ask me”, “distorted syllable” and the desperate sense of the word “to frame our shapeless spirit on all sides”.
